Foundation for African Medicine and Education
The Foundation for African Medicine and Education, Ltd. (FAME) was established in 2004 by Dr Frank Artress and his wife, Susan Gustafson. FAME is a non-profit organization under the law of Tanzania. FAME was established to share medical expertise and tools used in other parts of the world with Tanzanian communities that are facing huge health-care challenges. FAME has already built an operational policlinic in North Tanzania and has designed a mobile clinic that enables people in remote areas to receive medical treatment – people for whom health care was virtually inaccessible. FAME's activities are funded by private donations and subsidies from Europe and the United States.
