Encouraging news from Africa
Last year, Malaria No More! Netherlands was able to support another four projects in Africa, enabling many Africans across the continent to protect themselves against malaria.
In the Netherlands, 2009 will end with SeriousRequest, a super project by Dutch radio station 3FM. Three DJ's spend six full days in a house of glass raising awareness about malaria and funds to fight it. Go for it guys!
Our project in Kenya is proof that it is possible to prevent and treat malaria by spending money the right way. In the West Kenyan subregions of Mung'ang'a, Malaha and Khaunga, no more children or pregnant women have died from malaria since the intervention supported by Malaria No More! Netherlands started. The people have been educated, the villagers are now sleeping under insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and the mosquito breeding grounds have been tackled. And if someone comes down with malaria, their treatment is started as soon as they've been diagnosed.
Everlyne and the whole village of Bulechia in Mung'ang'a would like to thank you for your support, and wish you, together with management and the board of Malaria No More! Netherlands
Merry Christmas and a Malaria-free 2010
Buzz it around or swat mosquitoes on the web
It's easy to contribute to a malaria-free 2010. All you have to do is hook up to our foundation through a social networking site like Twitter and Facebook and spread the word. If you want, you can also test your dexterity by stopping as many mosquitoes as possible that are en route to an African village. And by adding your score to the Hall of Fame, you will support our work with a small contribution of €1.50. Not really worth mentioning, right?
