2011 - March: Malaria in Dutch schools

Lessons and activities on fighting malaria
Malaria may be a dreadful and deadly disease, but children know about mosquitoes and can actually imagine that sleeping under a mosquito net helps prevent getting bitten. To acquaint children with malaria and the measures that can be taken to prevent and cure it, we have placed a teaching package (in Dutch) for primary and secondary schools on our website. The lessons can be extended to include creative activities such as drawing and music. We can also help you think up and carry out sponsorship activities that are linked to a lesson and enable the whole school to actively contribute to fighting malaria.

Rotterdam gets ready for World Malaria Day
In the run-up to World Malaria Day on April 25, we covered one statue after another in the centre of Rotterdam with a mosquito net on February 11 to draw attention to malaria in a playful way. The action was led by Arjan Erkel and Steven Kop. People who couldn’t come see us in action could follow us on Twitter via #malaria, which ranked third on the day's trending topic list. More…
The World Malaria Day activities will reach their peak on 7 June 2011 when the Euromast in Rotterdam will be draped in the largest mosquito net in the world. A lot will be happening in the run-up to and on World Malaria Day, so keep an eye on the press and the social networks. More….

Malaria No More and Wilde Ganzen raised € 42,500 for Kenya
Last year, hundreds of schoolchildren, teachers, parents, members of service clubs, athletes, and artists dedicated time to sponsorship activities to raise money for our project in Kenya. As part of the AddedValue collaboration we had with Wilde Ganzen for this project, Wilde Ganzen augmented the proceeds with a premium. In January 2011, the intended amount had been raised, bringing a happy end to the collaboration. More…
We are now working on the second request for collaboration with Wilde Ganzen, who have informed us that that they will augment the money raised in 2011 by a fixed premium of 55%. Will you be the one to run the first sponsorship campaign under the banner of Wilde Ganzen and their 55% premium? Click sponsor campaigns to find out what you can do.
