Safari Chic was a great success

Riva-DJ-200pix.jpgLast Monday, May 9, was the big day. The Safari Chic benefit party took place at Club Riva in Rotterdam. After weeks of preparation by Rotterdam University students, Malaria No More, and the sponsors, it was finally time to celebrate! Everything was ready: the club was decorated with palm trees, mosquito nets and umbrellas, the drinks were chilled and the DJs were at their turntables. All we needed now were customers.

It was yet another beautiful evening and the sidewalk cafés were packed until late. But people slowly found their way to Riva for a cool drink and good music. Things started picking up around 11 p.m.: all the tables were taken and people were starting to dance. The barmen and Riva-danseresdonkerZW-150pix.jpgbarwomen danced with fireworks and the DJs played stimulating house music.

A few hours later and the party was in full swing. Some 300 people partied until the wee hours of the morning. Some people had such a great time that they asked if the party couldn’t be thrown more often. The proceeds would certainly be the least of our worries. Thanks to a donation from Club Riva, some € 1,300 were raised that evening for Malaria No More. A great contribution to the fight against malaria!

We never would have been able to do this without the help of our sponsors. We would like to thank Club Riva, Perfect DM Groep, I WANT A PARTY, HF photography, Growing art, MC Dirty B and of course all the DJs for their time and efforts.
