This evening, the proceeds from the Serious Request 'Stop malaria - Play the music' campaign were announced: a record €7,113,447. Over €7 million! This is a fantastic contribution to the fight against malaria!

Giel, Annemiek and Gerard: what a great job you did! Congrats!

The campaigns that were carried out in other countries were also very successful:
- €0.5 million in Sweden
- €4.7 million in Switzerland
- well over €3.3 million in Belgium

In total, more than €15 million. Millions of people in malaria-infected countries can now protect themselves from the deadly bite of the malaria mosquito.

Minister Koenders handed over a cheque on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The enthusiasm, the hundreds of sponsor campaigns, the dedication of young and old, the inventiveness and creativity, the thousands of small and large donations, and the huge amount of money the Dutch people and businesses were willing to spend on malaria persuaded the government that fighting malaria is a goal that not only deserves attention but also financial support. The government contributed €3 million, meaning that the total proceeds amounted to €7.1 million.

It must be said: The 3FM DJs were WONDERFUL, GREAT, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
