Collaboration with Hyves Group Muggen Zijn Kut! (mosquitoes suck)

Logo-MZK-MNMook-200pix.jpgMalaria No More! Netherlands recently started working with a popular Hyves group, Muggen zijn kut!, which has more than 203,000 mosquito-hating members. Under the motto Mosquitoes suck! Malaria sucks, too! we'll be asking the group to support us in a number of different ways. We strongly believe that malaria is still a highly underestimated killer.

We hope the information we give the members of this Hyves group will increase their understanding of just how devastating the effects of a mosquito bite can be. There's a lot more to a malaria mosquito than the annoying buzzing in the middle of the night and the itching bump you spend a few days scratching. We'll also be posting information on how they can protect themselves from mosquitoes. Sleeping under a mosquito net, for example, like you would in a malaria-infected area, is also an effective way of not getting bitten by our annoying Dutch mosquitoes. We also walk them through the effects of malaria, highlight the risk groups, and talk about the protective measures other than sleeping under an insecticide-treated mosquito net they can take. Last but not least, we also talk about treatingBoekMugBartKnols.gif and curing malaria. It is so unnecessary for a child to die of malaria every 30 seconds!

We’ll also be keeping members updated on our campaigns, such as the recent unveiling in Amsterdam of a display containing 10,000 malaria mosquitoes. We have films and loads of interesting facts, too. And then there's Bart Knols's book, ‘Mug’ (Mosquito), an absolute must for anyone who wants to know why mosquitoes always bite them and not their partner, and what measures are being taken here to fight malaria and the Asian tiger mosquito here in the Netherlands. If you order this book through YouBeDo.com, 10% of the price of the book will go to MZK-banner-150pix.jpgMalaria No More! Netherlands without costing you an extra cent.

Malaria No More! Netherlands believes that the Muggen zijn kut! group on Hyves can make a real difference simply because the membership is so big. With a lot of help from Spreadshirt, Muggen zijn kut! and Malaria No More! Netherlands created a website with a webstore where you can buy Muggen Zijn Kut! t-shirts and other items. All of the proceeds go to Malaria No More! Netherlands. In other words: Want a shirt? It's one way to help stop malaria!
