David Lloyd Sports & Health Club Akragon focuses on fighting malaria

FotoLloyd-team.jpgSaturday, 29 May 2010 was a very busy day at David Lloyd Sports & Health Club Akragon in Rotterdam. Some 50 sports enthusiasts worked up a sweat spinning or body jumping. This event was organized by six students studying Facility Management at the Hogeschool Rotterdam. Their goal was to collect as much money as possible for a project Malaria No More! Netherlands is running in Kenya.

The scheduled zumba class had to be cancelled because a disrupted train schedule prevented the instructor arriving on time. But no harm done: one of the spinning trainers gave a class in body jumping. They were also taster classes in relaxation therapy and you could even book a massage. There was a stand with sandwiches, fruit and water where you could recharge your batteries and buy a bottle of DEET or a mosquito swatter.

The sports event was opened by Arjan Erkel, director of Malaria No More! Netherlands, who was very happy about the enthusiasm and the great proceeds: €1,414 (including Wilde Ganzen's contribution).
