Round Table
Round Table Netherlands, an association with some 3,200 members spread across some 200 tables throughout the Netherlands, has decided to join the global fight against malaria and support Malaria No More! Netherlands in the coming years as an international service project.
'Round Table Netherlands feels strongly about both national and international service,' says Frank Capel, President of Round Table Netherlands. 'At home, we actively support the Opkikker foundation and the Bart Foundation. Local tables often organize events that support service projects, for example, with funds, but club members also like rolling up their sleeves and paying an active contribution.'
International projects are also set up and supported. For years, the Freedom through Education project helped raised large sums of money to promote education in India. Aid also went towards local education and health projects in South Africa.
Malaria No More is very honoured that the Round Table Netherlands has chosen the fight against malaria as international service project in addition to the national service project 'Bart Foundation'.
The Round Table was particularly motivated by the goals Malaria No More! Netherlands set to fight malaria, and decided to support the foundation as an international service project. Both organizations recognize that one of the world's best humanitarian investments is to stop the deadly grip malaria has on Africa. Nothing else can impact as many people's lives and livelihoods as quickly or as cheaply. Malaria is one of the biggest poverty-related diseases, so eliminating malaria will not only save lives, it will also dramatically help reduce poverty, one of the key Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Round Table Netherlands will help Malaria No More! Netherlands by raising awareness and funds to scale up malaria interventions and end malaria. The Malaria No More! team will support the campaigns with information on malaria and the supported projects. Together with the Malaria No More! team, new malaria interventions will be explored in African countries with a Round Table history. This will not only strengthen the fight against malaria, but also the brotherhood between the Dutch and African Round Table Associations. Together, we can successfully save thousands of lives.
Malaria No More! Netherlands is looking forward to expanding its collaboration with Round Table outside the Netherlands, and calls upon Round Table International to follow the example of Round Table Netherlands. We are looking forward to an inspiring, successful and pleasant collaboration.
